Environmental Works Celebrates 15th Anniversary
with Company Cruise and New Location
SPRINGFIELD, MO - Environmental Works, Inc. (EWI) today announced plans to celebrate the milestone of 15 successful years in business. Ms. Robin Melton, EWI President and Owner is taking her employees, each with one guest of their choice (84 people total) on a 4 day/3 night Royal Caribbean Cruise this October. Melton has also purchased a building to expand EWI facilities at 1455 E. Chestnut Expressway, with plans to renovate and achieve LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification. The LEED Green Building Rating System is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design, construction, and operation of high-performance green buildings, according to the U.S. Green Building Council's Web site.
Starting with only 2 employees in 1992, Melton has grown the firm to nearly 50 associates and three locations. EWI is now the largest environmental engineering firm in the Southwest Missouri area according to the Springfield Business Journal 2007 Book of Lists. Melton contributes a large part of this success to her employees and because of this she asserts that investing in her staff is one of the most valuable business investments she can make. To show her appreciation and gratitude, Melton is taking her employees on the celebration cruise. At the 10-year mark in 2002, Melton took her staff plus a guest each to Cancun.
“At this special milestone for our company, we also want to express our sincere appreciation to our clients for their continuing support as partners in our growth. As I think about the last 15 years, our focus on customer service has never wavered. By being in touch with our client base, we have been able to anticipate their needs and bring outstanding service and solutions to them. That’s another major reason why we have been so successful,” said Melton.
Many EWI clients recognize the exceptional service they have received from the company in the past 15 years and still receive today. Carol Carlson, Community Bank President at Wood & Huston Bank who has been a long-time business partner of the firm comments, “I believe EWI's success starts at the helm with the owner, Robin Melton. She has set an example which impacts everyone in the company. Their willingness to go the extra mile on every project has really made EWI stand out."
The firm’s first 15 years has been marked with many significant accomplishments. In 2002, EWI was presented with the prestigious W. Curtis Strube Business of the Year Award by the Springfield Chamber of Commerce. This year, EWI was one of two firms out of 14 applicants to be awarded the City of Springfield Brownfield’s redevelopment contract. EWI will perform environmental assessments at many downtown properties under this contract to help facilitate redevelopment in the center city. Most recently, EWI was one of four firms to be awarded the Hazardous Substance Cleanup & Disposal Contract for the State of Missouri.
“We’re more excited than ever about the opportunities ahead which I believe will lead to the next wave of growth and innovation for our company,” said Melton.
