EXPERIENCE SUMMARY:

Ms. Melton has over 15 years of experience managing environmental projects in southwest Missouri and across the United States. As President and Owner of Environmental Works, Inc., Ms. Melton is responsible for the management of over 30 technical and administrative staff members. In recent years, her focus has shifted to overall management of business operations and marketing; however, Ms. Melton acts as the principal scientist for certain special projects in the office, including RCRA compliance, NPDES permitting, UST closure and compliance, hazardous waste management/disposal, Phase I and II environmental assessments, subsurface investigations, site characterization and development of remedial alternatives for petroleum, hazardous waste and PCB impacted sites.

KEY PROJECT SUMMARY:

Ms. Melton has managed and conducted Phase I and II environmental site assessments for numerous  industrial and commercial properties, and was responsible for ensuring that the assessments were conducted under ASTM guidelines and for generating recommendations and conclusions regarding these properties.  As a licensed AHERA inspector, Ms. Melton also inspected properties for suspect asbestos-containing materials and provided a discussion of the materials.  When necessitated by site conditions, Ms. Melton developed and implemented Phase II work plans, which were designed to cost-effectively obtain the data needed to fully evaluate the site. Upon completion of the Phase II investigation, Ms. Melton interpreted the data and developed conclusions based on her extensive understanding of technical and regulatory issues.  In addition, many of these projects were completed under an accelerated schedule in order to meet the client’s needs.

Ms. Melton has overall responsibility for multiple environmental projects being conducted across the United States for a major rail carrier.  These projects include subsurface investigations, stormwater compliance and permitting, hazardous and non-hazardous waste management, development of remedial alternatives for contaminated sites, and limited emergency response.  As project manager, Ms. Melton is responsible for the coordination of technical staff and multiple subcontractors, cost and schedule tracking, and regulatory agency negotiation.  Because these projects are located across the United States, Ms. Melton is also familiar with relevant applicable local, state and federal environmental regulations, which in turn allows her to provide comprehensive regulatory support to the client.
